Korea consumer inflation slows in January as food prices dip

South Korea's annual inflation fell in January to its slowest pace in 17 months.<br /> According to Statistics Korea Thursday, the consumer price index rose one percent on-year in January, slowing down from December's one-point-five percent.<br />Prices rose zero-point-four percent on-month.<br />The index was dragged lower by a contraction in food prices, with fresh food prices dropping two-point-six percent on-year.<br />Electricity and gas prices also fell one-point-five percent on-year.<br />Core C-P-I, which excludes agricultural and oil products, rose one-point-one percent from a year ago, also decelerating from one-and-a-half percent in December. <br />
