Exactly one week from today,... the PyeongChang Winter Olympics will swing open with a no-expense spared opening ceremony.<br />All the athletes will be there for that,... but the number of athletes arriving in PyeongChang is already starting to swell.<br />Of the three-thousand athletes with a room in the athletes' village -- around 500 have already started to settle in. <br />Lee Ji-won reports. <br /> With a grand ceremony, the PyeongChang and Gangneung Olympic Villages officially opened on Wednesday.<br />Over 2-thousand-900 athletes participating in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics will be staying in the villages for February. <br /><br /> "We are doing our best to support the Olympic athletes as they prepare... so they can perform to the best of their abilities at the Games.<br /><br />The snow sports athletes will be based at the PyeongChang Olympic village, and the ice event athletes will stay in the Gangneung village. <br /><br />From hair salons and a fitness center to praying rooms for various religions,... the Olympic villages aim to provide all the necessities for the athletes during their stay.<br />Up to 8 people will stay in each house,... sharing the rooms and facilities with athletes from the same country.<br /><br /> While athletes from a few countries had already moved into the villages, 500 athletes arrived on Wednesday,... including South Korea's snow-event athletes. Team Korea's ice-event athletes will move into the Gangneung village between this Sunday and Tuesday next week.<br /><br /> The 12 competition venues have also officially opened, allowing athletes already in the town to get started with their training and final preparations for the Games. <br />Lee Ji-won, Arirang News. <br />
