The 42nd Chiang Mai Flower Festival opened in Thailand on Friday with thousands of visitors expected to attend the colourful three-day event.<br /><br />The festival takes place each year in Suan Buak Haad park which is transformed on the weekend of the festival by floral displays.<br /><br />The festival also involves the Flower Parade in which scores of dancers and musicians cross the city handing out flowers to spectators.
