The White House has dismissed as false a claim by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he had discussed the possibility of Israel annexing Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.<br /> Monday's denial by the White House came just hours after Netanyahu said he had discussed the issue with the Trump administration "for some time."<br />It showed a rare display of discord between the U.S and Israel after both countries enjoyed improved relations since President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. <br />Right-wing Israeli lawmakers are trying to push for the so-called Sovereignty Law, but its passage could seriously harm any hope of a two state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine and also spark global criticism. <br />
