<p>New York Governor Andrew Cuomo introduced the newest member of his administration during a press conference at the State Executive Mansion in Albany, New York on Monday, February 12.</p><p>Cuomo debuted Captain, his family’s new 14-month old puppy, to a crowd of New York mayors and local officials who had gathered at the mansion, local media report.</a></p><p>Cuomo said in a clip shared to his social media channels that it was his daughters’ idea to get a dog.</p><p>“They had to have a puppy; they had to have a puppy. They are nowhere to be found now,” he said.</p><p>Cuomo also said he wanted to name the puppy “Excelsior,” after New York State’s motto, but went with the name his daughters picked out instead.
