In the U.S. state of Florida, at least 17 people were killed and at least 16 others wounded at a high school... when a former student opened fire Wednesday afternoon.<br />Officials say the suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, is in custody.<br /> The shooting occured in Parkland,... a wealthy, low-crime city near Miami.<br />Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Cruz, the gunman, had been expelled from the school for disiplinary problems and had made "disturbing" posts on social media before the attack.<br /> CNN cites a source saying Cruz initially tried to blend in with the crowd and escape, but it didn't work.<br />He was later caught off campus.<br />Local reports say he was seen being put on a gurney,... some time later being wheeled into a hospital... and was then taken to the Sheriff's Office.<br />Several of the wounded are reportedly in critical condition and are undergoing surgery. <br />
