The proportion of income Koreans spend on food has risen to its highest level in 17 years.<br /> Based on data released by the Bank of Korea on Tuesday... the proportion of income Korean households spend on food has climbed to 13-point-8-percent as of September last year.<br /> Korea's central bank says during the first nine months of last year... the amount of income spent on food increased nearly 5-percent from a year earlier to nearly 73-point-8-billion U.S. dollars.<br />These figures suggest that income levels among Korean households may have decreased, particularly among the low to mid-income bracket... as well as suggesting an upward trend in food prices. <br />
