<br /> A lawyer has pleaded guilty to a charge of lying to federal investigators as part of U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.<br />The special counsel's probe seeks to determine Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.<br />Alex van der Zwaan, who is also the son-in-law to one of of Russia’s richest men, pleaded guilty in federal court on Feb. 20th.<br />Zwaan is expected to be sentenced on April 3rd.<br />He stood accused of making false statements regarding communications he had with Rick Gates, an associate of Paul Manafort and a former Trump campaign aide. <br />
