<br /> China is deploying 60,000 members of its People’s Liberation Army to plant trees in attempts to suppress air pollution.<br />Air pollution was responsible for one-third of all deaths in China in 2016.<br />Many of the country’s armed paramilitary police have been reassigned from patrolling the northern border to planting trees in Hebei province.<br />Other air quality-improving efforts include banning vehicles with combustion engines, replacing coal with natural gas and producing solar energy. <br />
