VANDENBERG AIR BASE, CALIFORNIA — SpaceX last week launched two demonstration broadband internet satellites.<br /><br />On Feb. 22 2018, the company launched the PAZ radar imaging satellite for a Spanish government satellite operator. Also onboard the rocket manifest for that launch was 2 of their demo satellites, dubbed Microsat-2a and Microsat-2b. <br /><br />Those are part of the SpaceX's planned Starlink broadband satellite network that will reportedly comprise a mesh of around 12,000 satellites orbiting the Earth.<br /><br />According to the BBC, this network would provide internet to regions needing it the most. However it could also put SpaceX in competition with the telecom companies.
