A record amount of people are running in the upcoming elections for the U.S. House and Senate this year.<br /><br />It is the most declared candidacies since the Federal Election Commission began keeping records in 1977.<br /><br />Most of these 2,000 filings are for Democratic offices. <br /><br />A big reason for these numbers is in the strong opposition to Donald Trump since the 2016 election.<br /><br />Republicans experienced something similar after Barack Obama's first election win during the 2010 midterms. <br />
