Campus Police Respond After Howard Students Seek Information Over Housing Crisis

<p>A campus housing issue</a> at Howard University that left many students worried about their future accommodations attracted online attention after a student posted</a> a response she received after contacting the school president outlining her situation.</p><p>The student posted images on Twitter on March 7 that appeared to show a response email from the college president, Wayne A.I. Frederick, calling her tone and tenor inappropriate.</p><p>On the same date, a group of students said</a> they were denied entry to the student affairs office and were also denied information regarding their housing status.</p><p>Videos posted online show campus police interacting with the students who appear to be contained in a hall.</p><p>On March 8, the university president said</a> he and his staff had failed to offer students a supportive and enjoyable university experience. The housing issue arose as a result of a technical glitch and not a housing shortage, he said.</p><p>In this video, students are seen in a crowded hall at the university. One campus police officer asks the students, “How do you know that we have a home?” He then says campus officials are working on fixing the technical glitch to rectify the housing allocation.</p><p>The uploader told Storyful she has not received any information on her housing status and she is on a waitlist for next semester.
