Cabinet approves bill on reduced maximum working hours

The South Korean government has approved the revision to a labor bill aimed at shortening the legal working hours from current maximum of 68 hours to 52 hours.<br /> Following the revision, the maximum working hours will be made up of 40 hours a week regular work and 12 hours extended work. <br />Currently, an employee can work for 16 hours over the weekend on top of those 40 hours of regular and 12 hours of extended work.<br />The envisioned cut in working hours is one of President Moon's key election pledges aimed at enhancing the quality of life for workers and creating jobs. <br />
