<p>A fire that ripped through a a residential area in Las Pinas City, on Wednesday, March 14, destroyed over 500 homes and left about 1,000 families homeless.</p><p>The fire, which broke out in the Laong Compound in the city’s Barangay Almanza, spread due to fierce winds, a lack of fire hydrants and narrow alleyways, which delayed the response from firefighters, The Philippine Star</a> reported.</p><p>At least one person was killed, with property damage estimated to be around 1.5 million Phillipine Pisos, or $29,000 USD, after 575 houses were destroyed.</p><p>This footage shows the fire when it first sparked in the early hours of the morning, as well as a glimpse of people evacuating later on in the day.
