The Regerneron Science Talent Search $250,000 first prize went to New York student Benjamin "Benjy" Firester.<br />His project focused on microorganisms that cause Potato Famine and a computer model mean to prevent it.<br />His technology will save companies billions of dollars in lost crops.<br />Firester's project is entitled, "Modeling the Spatio-temporal Dynamics of Phytophthora infestans on Regional Scale." <br />
