World-renowned British physicist Stephen Hawking has died at age 76.<br />Diagnosed with ALS at age 21, doctors gave Hawking only a few years to live.<br />But he beat the odds, passing away Wednesday morning at his home in Cambridge.<br />His condition never dampened the icon's intellect and sense of humor.<br />In fact, he once said "Life would be tragic if it weren't funny." <br />
