A seal pup entangled in a fishing line got a helpful hand from a marine animal rescue team member and a few friends.<br /><br />“This poor seal pup was spotted at our harbour with fishing line entangled around its neck,” the rescuer said. “I’m a part of a marine animal rescue team and got a couple of friends to help me out with the capture of the seal and removal of the line.”<br /><br />“This first little pup took us four days to capture, as he would only rest on a tiny platform that was hard to access,” the rescuer continued. “Anytime he spotted us nearby, he'd slide into the water. We caught him in a deep sleep and my friends held him down while I cut the line. It took time to find the line since it was so tightly embedded into the poor pups neck. A nasty example of the hazards of ocean plastic pollution.”
