Food coloring is often used to color the material.[1]\r<br>Without using special tools or fixtures, simple figures can sculpted using your fingers. When using primitive tools, quite complex compositions can be realized.\r<br>Properly mixed dough does not crumble or crack, and has a long shelf life when stored in an air-tight container. Salt dough can be baked in an oven to make solid sculptures. After baking, the dough loses flexibility and may break if mishandled.\r<br>Products made from salt dough are quite dense, making them heavy. When sculpting large compositions, the increased weight must be fored into the design to prevent sagging or structural collapse.[2]\r<br>Salt dough is safe for children— even those inquisitive enough to eat it.
