Supporters of the former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont have taken to the streets of Barcelona to protest against his arrest in Germany. <br /> He was en route from Finland to Belgium before being detained by police on Sunday on a highway near the border of northern Germany and Denmark.<br />Puigdemont is wanted in Spain for rebellion and sedition after spearheading Catalonia's controversial referendum on whether to secede from Spain. <br />He has been living in self-imposed exile for five months in Belgium and visited Finland last week to meet lawmakers and attend a conference, before leaving on Friday. <br />He will appear before a German judge on Monday, after which a decision will be made on whether he will remain in custody or be extradited. <br />
