MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA — Google announced it will be changing the name of "Gmail" to "Gpost" in an effort to fight sexism and biased language.

Google said it was concerned with the overall environment of stereotypes and biased language within the tech community and the U.S. at large.

In a push towards equality, Google felt the name 'Gmail' was inherently offensive to some because it's a homonym of the word 'male', according to TechCrunch.

After an internal survey of employees, Googlers felt 'Gpost' would be less offensive, especially for women.

The diversity and inclusion department decided to roll out the name change internally at first.
All Gmail users will get the new Gpost update over the next few weeks. Those experiencing trouble logging in should contact Google immediately.
