Internships are a great way to gain valuable work experience in your industry. Even though being an intern is a great way to gain work experience, a lot of people shy away from it. The main reason why this happens is because of the many horror stories we hear concerning interns in companies.

Aside having to work for free, interns are often times overworked. Some are even made to do work that falls outside their scope or field. Imagine you apply for an internship opening as an accountant and you end up delivering mail in the office. You may end up not learning anything which may affect you in future.
Even though some of these stories are real and true, there are companies who make it a point treat their interns well. One such company is Google.

Google, for the last few years, has been considered one of the best places to work. This rating does not just end with its hired staff but also extends to interns.

Most people that work at Google, only have good things to say about the tech giant. They will always share good experiences about their time in the company with anyone who asks. Due to the way the staff at Google are treated, they find it hard to really leave the company.

This also applies to interns at the company. They are accepted and welcomed into the Google community. They enjoy all the perks that come with working with Google. This is probably one good reason why most interns always want to return and become full time employees.

Talk to any past or present Google intern and most of them would recount their time with Google with a smile on their face. If most companies treated their interns the way Google treats theirs, the genuine fear people have of pursuing internships will genuinely vanish.
