The post-Great Recession trend of firms relying on independent contractor work may be permanent.<br />So much involuntary part-time work shows a labor market less robust than headlines suggest.<br />Ironically, reliable schedules increase both sales and labor productivity.<br />The leisure, hospitality, education and health industries have high rates of IC jobs.<br />Those part-time jobs made especially large contributions to the overall change. <br />
