In daring rescue, villagers pull Indian antelope out of 100ft well

A group of villagers battled for five hours to save a blackbuck’s life in a risky rescue mission. <br /><br />The blackbuck, also known as the Indian antelope, had fallen into a 100-feet open well in a village in Beed district in the state of Maharashtra in west-central India. <br /><br />Though the well was drying up in the searing heat of summer, there was still about four feet of water left, which saved its life by cushioning its fall.<br /><br />A boy spotted the animal and informed his fellow villagers about it.<br /><br />A group of men quickly gathered and decided to rescue the animal. <br /><br />Three of them climbed down the well and fastened the blackbuck to a rope. While their friends hauled up the animal, one of the rescuers followed it with impressive agility to make sure it made it to the top safely. <br /><br />They later took the animal to a hospital, where it is being treated for a broken leg.
