S. Korean gov't announces five-year anti-corruption plan

문 대통령, 반부패정책협의회 주재…'갑질 근절' 방안 보고<br /><br /> The South Korean government has announced a five-year plan to fight corruption.<br />The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced the measures Wednesday during the second meeting of the Anti-Corruption Policy Consultation Council headed by President Moon Jae-in at the Blue House.<br /><br /> "Anti-corruption reform cannot be achieved in just a couple of months. It's a task that we need to focus on throughout our term. And it can only succeed with the support and participation of the people."<br /><br /> The plan mainly involves establishing anti-corruption organizations that are monitored by the public, broadening the definition of corruption in the public sector,... and developing a system to ensure that managers in private companies follow the law.<br />It also contains stronger punishments for bribery, influence peddling, embezzlement and malpractice.<br />The commission says that by 2022 it aims to raise Korea's anti-corruption ranking to the world's top 30. <br />
