신상협 교수님 대담

And to tell us more about this.... Professor Shin Sang-hyup from Kyung Hee University joins us in the studio today.
So good to see you.

It's great to be here.

1- What would a peace treaty mean for the two Koreas.... and have such efforts for a peace treaty been made in the past?

2- If the two Koreas agree on a peace treaty and formally end the Korean War... this would definitely mean something for the international community as well,... right?

3- Then what kind of roadmap do you think the South Korean government has in mind in regards to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of a peace treaty with North Korea?

4- What are the chances then for us to even see the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and North Korea?

5- So events are moving very rapidly,... given that just four months ago Washington and Pyongyang were trading threats of war.
Although not a lot has been made public... how far do you think discussions and negotiations between the two Koreas and the U.S. have gone?

6- Some are suggesting that matters involving North Korea should be dealt with and settled, especially when it comes to denuclearization and diplomacy with North Korea, while President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump are in office.
I mean, can Moon and Trump succeed where so many others have failed up until now?

7- But in the past... North Korea's preconditions for denuclearization included the withdrawal of American troops stationed in South Korea,... which is a demand that Washington and Seoul have both rejected.

8- What's the possibility then of a multinational peace agreement that would involve not only the two Koreas but also the U.S. and China?

9- Amid a flurry of diplomatic efforts over North Korea,... Pyongyang has been involving itself greatly with China... with Kim Jong-un first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping,... then meeting with Chinese top diplomats.
What can we make of this?

Thank you for your insight today.

Thank you.
