Power Outage in San Juan Forces Train Passengers to Walk to Nearest Station

<p>Puerto Rico was plunged into an island-wide blackout on April 18 after a power failure occurred in the island’s south.</p><p>It was the second such outage within two weeks, after a tree fell onto a power line on April 12, crippling electrical services for an estimated 870,000 customers of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority</a>. The outages occurred as Puerto Rico was recovering from infrastructure damage caused by Hurricane Maria.</p><p>Due to the outage, a train in San Juan came to a stop between stations and passengers were forced to exit and walk to safety.
