This is the moment a man confronts a protester who is tearing down posters put up by pro-choice campaigners ahead of Ireland's upcoming abortion referendum.

Video filmed on April 17 in Limerick shows a man walking around a street removing signs from lampposts that read: "Stop shaming women."

The filmer, Kevin Kiely Jnr, confronts the man.

"Why did you take down the posters?" he asks.

"Do you disagree about stopping shaming women in 2018?" he adds.

The incident comes as Ireland prepares to vote on May 25 whether to repeal the 8th amendment to the country's constitution.

The amendment, in force since 1983, restricts access to abortion to cases where the woman's life is in danger, forcing many Irish women to go overseas for abortions.
