A panda cub at a zoo in southwest China put on quite the show for some Australian tourists earlier this month.

In the video, filmed at Chongqing Zoo in the southwest of the country, a super excited Tintin - who had just woken up from an afternoon nap - performs some forward rolls while carrying a tree branch.

Filmer Eamonn McCann, a grandad of three from Melbourne, was in China with his wife, Heather, of 36 years.

Their holiday to China was the couple's first overseas trip in four decades.

"Tintin had just woken up at about 2.30pm and decided to put on a show for us while we were visiting from Australia," explains McCann, who lives in Melbourne. "We spent the next 20 minutes watching and filming him."

''Our tour guide who lives nearby has visited the zoo on hundreds of occasions with other tour groups and said she had never seen a panda so excited like this one."

In the video, a Chinese person can be heard saying in Mandarin: "Why is it rolling today? What is wrong with it today? Is it getting mad? It must feel itchy!"

McCann said: "We felt very special seeing this because the zoo was quite empty and only a handful of people got to see what we saw - mostly local Chinese - and they were in awe of what was happening. Even the other panda carers were all coming over to see him.

"We then spent the next few days sailing down the Yangtze River giggling every now and then after watching the videos I had taken with my phone of Tintin the Crazy Panda."
