Star Trek Taps S.J. Clarkson <br />to Be First Female Director <br />in Franchise History Variety reported Thursday that Clarkson will direct ‘Star Trek 4,’ despite Paramount Pictures not confirming <br />the hire. The movie studio revealed Thursday at CinemaCon that there will be a fourth film in the series, with Chris Hemsworth who appeared as Captain Kirk’s father in the 2009 reboot <br />‘Star Trek.’ Zachary Quinto is also reportedly set to return. ‘Star Trek’ grossed $385 million worldwide, while its sequel ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ tallied $467 million globally in 2013. The third film in the series, ‘Star Trek Beyond,’ brought in $343 million worldwide in 2016. Clarkson is best known for her work on TV shows, like ‘Dexter’ and ‘Orange is the New Black.’
