There’s a range of petrol engines and a pair of economical diesels. With a big boot, the Kia Rio is practical and spacious, and owning one should be painless thanks to Kia’s seven-year warranty. Despite all this, it doesn’t excite like the best cars in this class - which offer agile handling - although it is comfortable on the move.
