This song was co-written by me and Sylvia Moy. I remixed it as I never liked the original version at all, so I neglected it for years. Now Sylvia's amazing lyrics can be heard properly with the fabulous Frances Nero. I wrote a very special song for her, which I adore, along with Ivy Jo Hunter, the man who wrote "Dancing In The Street", a song called "Footsteps Following Me". I loved her Motown classic, "Keep On Loving Me", so much that I was determined to find her, so put out a plea on a Detroit TV show and also in the Detroit papers, and she turned up because of this. Frances, amazingly, hadn't even recorded for twenty three years. "Footsteps" was the only Motorcity release to cross over to the charts. However, and much to Frances' constant annoyance to this present day, the deal for Motorcity was an exclusive one, and was frozen, with no more releases coming out, and the only way I freed up the entire catalogue was to waive all rights to royalties for Footsteps, so none of us made a penny off it. Sad. But still a wonderful record and a classic, especially thanks to Chris Hill, my mentor, who almost single handedly broke the record in the clubs.
