An innocent man who served more than seven years in prison for a crime he did not commit today started an appeal for compensation at the Supreme Court in London.<br /><br />Sam Hallam was just 17-years old when he was wrongfully convicted for murder in 2005 and sentenced to life imprisonment. <br /><br />In 2012 he was released after it was found police had failed to disclose evidence that proved Hallam was not at the scene of the murder.<br /><br />Today was his third attempt at seeking compensation after two previous attempts heard at the Royal Courts of Justice.<br /><br />Hallam was surrounded by family and supporters as he entered the Supreme Court this morning, including Patrick Hill, one of the Birmingham Six, a group of men wrongfully imprisoned for the infamous pub bombings.<br /><br />Soundbites are from Paul McLaughlin from campaign group Miscarriages of Justice Organisation.
