North Korea is seeking to add more flight routes to other countries,... and it wants to do that by linking its flight information region, or F-I-R, to that of South Korea.<br />F-I-Rs are regions of airspace assigned to the air traffic controllers of specific countries,... and access to the nation's air traffic control would allow the regime to have more routes.<br /> According to Seoul's foreign ministry the matter is being considered by relevant bodies... with the transport ministry at the center of it all.<br />A ministry spokesperson said, to his knowledge, Pyongyang wants to create a new route to a third country -- not South Korea.<br />It was reported last week that the reclusive state applied to the International Civil Aviation Organization in February to open new air routes to the South.<br />Currently, North Korea's Air Koryo has only chartered flights to China and Russia. <br />
