The ruling Democratic Party of Korea will be electing a new floor leader today.<br />It's a two-way race between three term lawmakers -- Noh Woong-rae and Hong Young-pyo.<br /> The incoming whip will be replacing Woo Won-shik... and will take the helm for the next twelve months.<br />Whoever gets the nod faces a number of challenges.<br />First, he must deal with a standoff between rival parties that has intensified over a special counsel probe into an online opinion rigging scandal.<br />Despite negotiations this week, rival parties failed to reach a compromise -- and the National Assembly remains gridlocked.<br />The new whip must also seek ways to step up cooperation with the opposition bloc... for the smooth roll out of the Moon administration's policy goals.<br />The result is expected at in the next couple of hours. <br />
