<br /> <p>Clean-up operations commenced in and around Hobart, Tasmania began on May 11 after parts of the city were pelted by torrential and fierce winds overnight.</p><p>The Australian reported</a> thousands of home were without power and roads and schools were closed on Friday morning.</p><p>The night before, vehicles in the low-lying parts of the city were swept away by flash flooding</a>. The University of Tasmania’s Sandy Bay Campus was also shut down after power was cut and several buildings flooded.</p><p>A video taken by resident Nikita Riseley shows the aftermath of the storm with glass doors to a Kingston shopping complex blown in, roads and pavements torn up and strong winds still sweeping through the region.
