<p>Pompeii Archaeological Park has shared fascinating footage and imagery</a> showing the discovery of the intact figure of a horse, which perished when the ancient city was covered in volcanic ash after a 79AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius.</p><p>Footage shot by local police and the park – an arm of Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities</a> – was shared on May 10, and shows the careful process that went into uncovering the horse’s remains.</p><p>A statement from the park noted that this was the first such discovery</a> in the many years of excavations.
