Defective air bags from Takata are responsible for 278 injures across the US.<br />The recent figures were complied by Democratic Senator Bill Nelson's office.<br />The Florida senator has been part of an ongoing investigation and recall effort for the air bags.<br />According to the senator's research, the air bags are also responsible for 15 deaths in the US.<br />The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initially ordered the recall in 2015, but over 16 million faulty air bags remain in vehicles today. <br />
