Chinese state media have shown footage of the country's first home-built aircraft carrier undergoing sea trials. <br /> The vessel, temporarily named Type 001A, left port in the north-eastern city of Dalian on Sunday.<br />The carrier was launched about a year ago, but has since been fitted with weapons and other equipment.<br />It is due to go into service by the year 2020 and will become China's second aircraft carrier.<br />Beijing is trying to modernize its naval fleet to rival the world's leading maritime powers, such as the U.S. Navy. <br />
