WHO seeks to get rid of trans fat globally in next five years

The World Health Organization has released a plan to help countries wipe out trans fats from the global food supply in the next five years.<br /> It says industrial-made trans fats used in baked and fried foods, as well as snacks, are responsible for half a million deaths worldwide each year.<br />Several governments around the world have been implementing measures to reduce trans fats.<br />But the WHO is calling on others to follow suit and recommends that no more than one percent of a person's calories should come from trans fats.<br />If these measures are upheld, the UN health agency is confident the world can reduce cardiovascular diseases within five years. <br />
