Residents Evacuated as Flowing Lava Causes Brush Fires

<br /> <p>Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency ordered residents</a> at Kamaili Road to evacuate, late on May 10, due to active lava flows from Kīlauea volcano causing brush fires in the area.</p><p>Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency said that</a> one flow had crossed Highway 137 at the 13-mile marker and entered the ocean.</p><p>They warned that how lava entering the ocean creates sends hydrochloic acid and steam with fine glass particles into the air.</p><p>A second flow was about 400 meters from Highway 137.
