1994 Lion King Playsets by Mattel\r
Its retro Toy Tuesday and today were going to take a look at 3 different sizes of Lion King Pride Rock Playsets from 1994.\r
\r
The first playset is the largest one at 10 inches tall. This is the Pride Rock Rock Playset by Mattel. The back of this set is hollow. \r
\r
This set is designed to work with the Lion King ion figures I previously reviewed.\r
\r
The playset has a couple of play features including the top of Pride Rock spins around to become Rafikis treetop.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
The bottom of the playset is the elephant bone yard. If a skull shaped button is pushed, the rib cage springs back. \r
\r
The last play feature is a bubbling pit.\r
\r
No figures were sold with this set, but it did come with several loose bones including an elephant skull, some animals rib cage, and a leg.\r
\r
The next playset is the Once Upon A Time playset. This set is just under 5 inches tall. The outside of this set is molded to resemble pride rock in front of a sunset. The front side of the set has molded animals gathered at the base of pride rock including an elephant, giraffes, zebras, and wilderbeast.\r
\r
The figures included with this set are young Simba, young Nala, Timon, and Zazu. \r
\r
The interior of the playset has the elephant graveyard on the left. On the opposite side is the bone cage. There is a secret back exit that leads to Rafikis tree. The final scene from this playset is the jungle.\r
\r
Simba can stand on the edge of Pride Rock, but hes way out of scale. \r
\r
The four included figures can fit in this playset but you have to line them up perfectly or it wont close.\r
\r
The final Pride Rock playset is the smallest at only 2 and a half inches tall. Like the previous playset, this one also opens up in the middle to reveal the interior scenes.\r
\r
Included with this playset are three figures: adult Simba, young Simba, and young Nala.\r
\r
The first scene in this set is the jungle with a rocky centerpiece that hinges over to reveal Rafikis tree. Below the tree is a teeter totter that young Simba and Nala can play on. A pool of water is between the tree and teeter totter.\r
\r
The figures can all fit inside this playset for storage and it is much, much easier to get them to fit inside than the second playset.\r
\r
So overall Id have to say bigger is not always the best. In this case, the largest playset is the one I think is the least fun. I like that the two smaller ones fold up for easier storage and hold their figures inside. Let me know which set is your favorite, in the comments down below.\r
\r
If you enjoyed this review, you may also like to see the 1994 Lion King Action figures that go with the first playset: \r
\r
Or maybe youd be interested in another 90s toy, Might Max vs the Ice Alien and trapped by the Arachnoid: \r
\r
If you enjoyed this video, I would really appreciate it if you could please give it a like and share it with your friends with similar interests.
