In this video tutorial I will demonstrate how to create 3 different buttercream decorated mini cakes.\r<br>\r<br>All three cakes were baked in 4 inch round cake tins. The recipe I used was a chocolate cake recipe:\r<br>\r<br>320 grams butter\r<br>2 + 1/2 cup sugar\r<br>2 tsp vanilla extr\r<br>4 eggs\r<br>3 cups of self raising flour\r<br>1/2 tsp salt\r<br>1 cup cup cocoa powder\r<br>4 tablespoons sour cream\r<br>1/2 cup buttermilk\r<br>for the video instructions, see: \r<br>THIS RECIPE WILL FILL 3X 4 ROUND CAKE TINS WITH A LITTLE TO SPARE. you may decide to make cupcakes out of the extra left over :) \r<br>\r<br>\r<br>SUGAR SYRUP RECIPE:\r<br>200 grams caster sugar\r<br>200 grams water\r<br>1/2 tsp vanilla extr or a liquor of your choice\r<br>1. Combine water in a sauce pan over medium heat. Allow the sugar to dissolve in the water, stirring gently. \r<br>2. Allow the mixture to come to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding in your vanilla\r<br>\r<br>BUTTERCREAM RECIPE\r<br>250 grams unsalted butter\r<br>500 grams icing sugar\r<br>1 tsp vanilla extr\r<br>2 to 3 tablespoons milk\r<br>for the buttercream instructions, see: \r<br>\r<br>\r<br>THE COLOURS USED:\r<br>Soft Pink Americolour Soft Gel Food Colour (buttercream pearls, blossoms and the ribbon)\r<br>Mint Green Americolour Soft Gel Food Colour (floral boarder cake mini leaves and the centre of the blossoms)\r<br>Avocado Americolour Soft Gel Food Colour (for the larger leaves on the half pearl cake)\r<br>\r<br>THE PIPING TIPS USED I THIS TUTORIAL:\r<br>tip #1 (mini floral boarder cake)\r<br>tip #3 (naked cake pearl boarder)\r<br>tip #10 (pearl boarder cake)\r<br>tip # 65 (mini leaves for the floral boarder cake)\r<br>tip # 67 (larger petal tip for the leaves on the half pearl cake)\r<br>tip #101 ( to create the blossoms)\r<br>\r<br>For more dessert inspiration and for tutorial sneak peeks, visit:\r<br>\r<br>\r<br>\r<br>\r<br>\r<br>These are 3 super basic cakes that are easy to create with easy to find piping tips.
