Turning over now to another natural disaster that is hitting Hawaii…
Lava from the erupting Kilauea volcano has covered a potentially explosive well at a geothermal power station.
Officials scrambled to prevent other wells at the Puna Geothermal Venture facility from being covered by deactivating them.
Some 230-thousand litres of flammable liquid have also been removed.
The wells tap into steam and gas deep in the Earth's core and there are fears of possible explosions emitting deadly hydrogen sulfide and other gases should they be ruptured.
Officials have reassured that the wells are stable and secure, but lava has never engulfed a geothermal plant anywhere in the word before, leaving an air of uncertainty.
