Residents thought they were attending New Year celebrations after an explosion in power lines looked like a fireworks display. <br /><br />The electrical surge happened in Pasig City, Philippines on May 16. The power lines started sparking allegedly because of 'jumpers' or illegal electricity connections where locals tap into the grid - causing a surge in power.<br /><br />The balls of sparks continued for around ten minutes before eventually subsiding.
