Dolphins Surf on Humpback Whales' Bow Waves in Monterey Bay

<p>Drone footage has captured Pacific white-sided and Northern right whale dolphins swimming with humpback whales in Monterey Bay, California, on May 14.</p><p>Nancy Black, who operates Monterey Bay Whale Watch/Gowhales.com, told Storyful around 1,000 dolphins were traveling in a mixed species herd on the date the video was shot. Black said the dolphins were “snout riding” on the whales, surfing on the wave from the whale’s head.</p><p>“The dolphins are playful and enjoy annoying the whales a bit to get them to move quicker so they can surf along their head,” Black told Storyful.
