Flowing lava and blue flames caused by methane in Hawaii have made the once-idyllic tropical hotspot look like the underworld.<br /><br />In a video filmed during the night of May 28 in Leilani, a large lava pool can be seen smouldering next to a lava fountain. <br /><br />A lava tornado briefly forms in the distance.<br /><br />Blue flames are also seen – caused by the burning of methane gas in the ground. <br /><br />The area of Leilani on Hawaii's big island has been inundated by lava following the eruption of the Kilauea volcano at the start of May. <br /><br />Almost 30 homes have been destroyed in the neighbourhood.
