Do not forget to give us your feedback in the comments below.<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />1 kg - Chicken<br />1 cup - Yogurt<br />1 tsp - Turmeric<br />Salt<br />1 tbsp - Garam masala powder<br />¼ cup - Ghee<br />5 medium size Onions (sliced)<br />½ tsp - Salt for onions<br />Green Paste<br />1 tbsp - Chilli powder<br />3 Tomatoes (Finely Chopped)<br />1 cup - Water<br />7-8 Baby Potatoes (Boiled)<br />Saffron Milk<br />2 tbsp - Melted ghee<br />Coriander (finely chopped)<br />Fried Onions<br /><br />Ingredients for green paste:<br />5 - Green chilies<br />1 cup - Coriander<br />½ cup - Mint leaves<br />15 Garlic Cloves<br />2 inch Ginger<br />1 Large Onion (Chopped)<br />Water<br /><br />Ingredients for Rice:<br />3-4 litre - Water<br />3 cups - Basmati Rice (soaked for 15 minutes)<br />2 ½ tbsp - Salt<br /><br />Method of preparation:<br />Marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric, salt, half of the prepared green paste, and garam masala powder. Mix it well and marinate it for an hour.<br />In a wok, heat ghee, add onions and saute it till it becomes nice and golden.<br />Add a little salt to the onions so that they brown a little fast.<br />Add the remaining green paste and saute it till the raw smell goes away.<br />Add chili powder, and mix it well.<br />Add tomatoes and cook them till they are nice and soft.<br />Add the marinated chicken and mix it well.<br />Add a cup of water, cover it with a lid and cook it on a medium flame till the chicken is almost done.<br />Add boiled potatoes and mix them well in the curry.<br />Cook it for a minute and transfer it to a different vessel.<br />Add rice, saffron milk, ghee, coriander leaves, fried onions to the gravy, cover it with a lid and cook it on a dum on a very low flame<br />for 10 - 15 minutes. <br /><br />Method of preparation for green paste:<br />In a mixer jar add green chilies, coriander, mint leaves, garlic cloves, ginger, onion and water. Make a fine paste of this.<br /><br />Method of preparation for rice:<br />Boil water in a vessel, add salt, soaked basmati rice and stir it gently.<br />Cook it without the lid till each grain is nice, separate and almost done.<br />Cook it for 10 -15 minutes. Do not cook the rice completely because it will be cooked on a dum later.<br />Switch off the flame and drain the water.<br />Remove it in a thali and cool it.<br /><br />Our Karnataka Style Chicken Biryani is ready to be served.
