A former marine has celebrated his 106th birthday

James Crombie marked his landmark day on Saturday with a tipple of his favourite brandy and a pie from the bakers who he has visited since the age of eight.<br /><br />The former Royal Marine police officer said he had been "very lucky" to reach such an old age and has put it down to a "lot of luck".<br /><br />James, of Dunfermline, Fife, lives with his grand-daughter Coreen, 49, but travels to the nearby Jean Mackie Centre to spend time during the day.<br /><br />He enjoys having a cup of tea, playing a miniature game of carpet bowls and listening to the speaker reading out what is in the newspaper every day.<br /><br />James has been going to his local bakers, Stephens, in Dunfermline, for over 90 years and claims they serve the "best pies around".<br /><br />The loyal Dunfermline Athletic supporter recalled what had helped him to reach the age of 106 as the football club's oldest supporter.<br /><br />He said: "I've been very lucky. I keep exercising by doing stretches with my arms and walking and I like a wee bit of brandy. Those are the secrets.<br /><br />"Any time I seemed to be in a bit of trouble I got a lucky break.
