A 16-year-old is the youngest racing driver in British GT history - despite being too young to hold a UK driving licence.<br /><br />Speed freak Tom Canning will become the youngest driver ever to compete in the British GT Championship, which begins on Easter weekend.<br /><br />He is not yet old enough to drive on the roads but is hoping to run rings around drivers with years more experience than him.<br /><br />He will be driving one of the two Toyota GT4 cars being run by Steller Motorsport in the competition – and will be just 16 years and 35 days old when he competes in the first of British GT’s two hour-long races on Easter Monday (2/4).<br /><br />He eclipses the current record-holder, Sandy Mitchell, who was six days older than Tom and his youngest-ever fastest lap, pole position and race victory benchmarks are now also under threat this season.
