A man who battered a D-Day veteran over the head with a claw hammer before going on a fast food spending spree with his stolen bank card has been convicted of attempted murder.<br /><br />Jim Booth, 96, was attacked in his home by Joseph Isaacs, 40, who had offered to fix the bungalow roof but became aggressive when the pensioner declined.<br /><br />Armed with a claw hammer, Isaacs shouted: “Money, money, money,” before he attacked the war veteran, who was involved in a secret operation in the D-Day landings.
